The Spatial Heritage Review #1, November 2023
Your monthly round up of what's happening at the intersection of 3D & cultural heritage.
Welcome! Read on for a summary of some of the very cool things that happened in October in the field of cultural heritage + 3D. In fact, so much happened that I had to create a second post to share everything.
Curious for more information on what this is all about? Read this.

USA. Getty has published a superb piece of multimedia scrollytelling with Frank Gehry and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Do yourself a favour and check it out, it is a very pleasant example of how to weave many elements together into a seamless whole on the web - and check out that credits section at the end! 3D powered (as far as I can tell) by three.js.

Online. In case you missed it, there have been some stirrings of cultural heritage related content leaking into the hugely popular free-to-play Fortnite video game. Game studio Preloaded collaborated with Epic Games, Sketchfab and Egyptologist Prof. Joann Fletcher to create the Wonders: Pyramids of Giza experience. You can play now by inputting this island code into the game.
In addition, the team at Preloaded worked with Dr. Rob Sherman to build a 40-50 minute lesson plan for students 14–16 on top of the experience.
Denmark. Statens Museum For Kunst has released 40 new 3D scans of subjects from its collection. The 3D data - designed for 3D printing - is created in collaboration with Scan the World and made available via open.smk.dk, dedicated to the public domain. Nice.
